Card Reissuance
How to Request Card Reissuance
In the event of changes to passport details, additional approvals from participating economies, or lost/damaged cards, you can request to reissue your cards. Reissued cards are valid only until the original expiration date.
How to Apply
  • 1. Fill out the reissuance request form. (Online)
  • 2. Submit original documents and existing cards by post.

Submitted documents will not be returned.

Reasons for reissuance
  • Changes to passport details: Your passport number must match that on the back of your ABTC.
  • Additional approvals from participating economies: If your card was issued before you received approval from all 19 economies, you can request that your card be reissued to include these additional economies on the back of your card.
  • Damaged cards: If your card is damaged or otherwise becomes unusable.
  • Lost cards: If your card is lost.
Requirement documents
  • ABTC reissuance request form (required)
  • Proof of employment (issued no earlier than 1 week ago from document receipt) (required)
  • Copy of passport with the last digits of the Resident Registration Number masked.
  • Existing card (your current card) – not applicable if lost.
Notes
  • If your name in Roman characters, spaces, or special characters, if any, on your new passport does not match that on your existing passport, there is a possibility of misidentification or suspicion of a forged passport by economies that consider your application based on your passport details. Make sure that your passport information is exactly the same as your old passport.
  • When you apply for the reissuance of your card, your ABTC may not be accepted if your signature on the new passport does not match the signature on your existing passport. Make sure your passport signature matches your old passport.
If you have already added a signature to the new passport that is different from the one on your old passport, you may not be able to use your card even if you add another signature that is the same as the one on your old passport.
  • If you lose your card twice or more, you may be barred from receiving new cards for 3 years. Be careful not to lose your card. [Article 13, Paragraph 5 of Ministry of Justice Instruction No. 598].
  • The photo on your card cannot be changed, except in cases where your face is significantly different from the image on your card due to plastic surgery or an accident, and this causes frequent problems in the immigration process. In this case, your application for a new card must be accompanied by a confirmation and an official note from the responsible officer.
  • Your card will become invalid if you have a new passport issued and your passport details change.
  • If you are requesting a new card for additional approvals, ensure that the additional approvals are properly acknowledged in the system before submitting the application and paying the fees. It is your responsibility to do so and all fees paid are non-refundable.
